Beverly Hills Location Shoot (Foldable Medium SB/B1600)

Here is a shoot I did yesterday at 5:45 Am in the morning. Did it Guerrilla Style with just one B1600/Medium Foldable Softbox by Alien Bee/C-stand/Cyber Syncs/and of course Vagabond II.

I wanted to go for a dramatic lit shot with a nice mix of ambient lighting and strobe lighting. Inspiration for these shots have come from Calvin Klein ads that I've seen over the past year or two. Most shots were done at 1/16 and 1/8 power. I really like the foldable soft box as its quick set up allows me to get in and out of a location in less then 10 minutes. As luck had it a cop drove by right when we started, but I told him I was a student at the art center and needed practice. He allowed me ten minutes...(a cool non-douchebag cop for once)

All lighting setups have soft box at camera right. (last shot is actually all natural light)

86" PLM on location b1600 light

These shots were a ton of fun to do. We got kicked out of are earlier location so we came to a roof top and did some shots. I wanted to really mess with the directional quality of the PLM. On some of the shots I just put it up high and aimed it down to almost light the shoes..and draw the focus there more then anything else. I cant wait to get more modifier toys. I have envisioned a beauty shot with 4 strip boxes...and I want to go overkill and get 4 silver beauty dishes with grids...and cook up something nuts. (overkill? Maybe?) But I'm having fun and producing some cool images.
